The brand

A simple logotype can be casual and pleasure-seeking.

Le tapas sono forse il simbolo dell’attitudine spagnola verso la gastronomia: piccole porzioni variopinte, ricette golose, sapori forti e soprattutto tanto vino. L’esperienza delle tapas è un condensato dello stile di vita spagnolo, con i suoi tempi rilassati, la spensieratezza e la forte socialità.

La Cova è un concept gastronomico che incarna tutti questi valori, portando in Italia un angolo di Spagna. WE RAD è stata incaricata di progettare un rebranding a 360 gradi del marchio, con l’obiettivo di rendere riconoscibile l’esperienza in tutti i locali del gruppo. Il marchio non poteva che rispecchiare l’atmosfera delle tapas: un lettering semplice, legato alla tradizione del packaging gastronomico mediterraneo, acquista ironia attraverso disallineamenti e giochi di proporzione.

Visual solutions

Screening

Tying in with the Spanish graphic tradition of the second half of the twentieth century, we introduced the treatment with colored screens of images depicting food and Spanish elements as the central element of visual identity. Octopus, lemons and maracas are found scattered in all the materials online and offline, helping to make the sense of confusion that one experiences on the premises.

Illustrations

In addition to the use of the screens, there is a second alternative of treatment of the images: these are illustrations with simplified lines, depicting connected elements connected with the experience that is made in La Cova, as ingredients, objects present in the premises or related to the city. In short: an explosive mix!

Tone of Voice

An authentic tapas bar speaks... Español!

From the beginning it was clear that the tone of the communication had to be based on the Spanish language. All dishes retain their originals names, as well as the categories into which the menù is divided. Moreover, both inside the premisses and on digital and paper communication tools there are numerous proverbs in Spanish that tell the philosophy of tapas. Playing of assonance with respect to the Italian language, you get a perfect balance between the understanding of the text and the feeling of authenticity.

Interiors

A revolution, inside and outside!

Even the rooms themselves have been rebranded! We have literally revolutionized the appearance of interior and exterior spaces by aligning furnishings and atmosphere with the new brand identity. The were we filled with graphic experimets in the form of posters and postcard and all the space were enriched with traditional Spanish objects. We even designed some “social corners” to entice customers to take photographs and publish them on social  networks with the correct geotag. The most striking elemento? Neon lettering, no doubt.
