A Bit of Beetle raises awareness about urban biodiversity, starting with the marbled beetle in Florence, threatened by habitat destruction.
Supported by partners and using technology and creativity, the project demonstrates how design can drive tangible environmental and social change.
Branding
The logo of A Bit of Beetle balances nature and technology, with stylized lines that evoke the shape of beetles.
The typography, provided by Zetafonts (project partner), adds personality and visual consistency, reinforcing the connection between design and scientific communication.
This design choice strengthens the project's message, creating a strong and recognizable visual identity.
Approved by the Museo La Specola, the project transformed the Polyphylla fullo into an interactive experience. Scanned in 3D, the beetle is brought to life through videomapping with graphic effects and interactivity. A custom controller allows users to modify colors and styles, while lights and sounds enhance the immersive experience.

The Website
The website features a clean, engaging design with a user-friendly interface that invites exploration of the world of beetles through informative and interactive sections.
It offers the option to customize a virtual beetle and share it on social media, demonstrating how creativity and technology can raise awareness about environmental issues.
Part of the project’s communication was carried out through a social media strategy involving video interviews, photos, and informative carousels. These content pieces allowed users to interact actively, promoting awareness of biodiversity issues and engaging the audience dynamically.
The A Bit of Beetle exhibition at the Museo di Storia Naturale "La Specola" in Florence offered an immersive experience focused on the Maggiolino marmorizzato (Polyphylla fullo).
The installation offered a unique opportunity for learning and interaction, attracting around six thousand visitors throughout its public exhibition period.
