Why do you go to OFFF?
To break away from routine to rediscover one's self - the reason for choosing this job - to be in the 'Don't Do'. The space where creativity grows.
To stay OFF.
OFFF is an event made from the heart by people with a heart to inspire them to have as much. It is always a pleasure to rediscover this feeling. It was with 'Feelings: An invitation to look inside' that OFFF's opening titles signed by STATE opened, a film where the opening credits became end credits. A hymn to non-identification, to feeling free from labels and thus being able to be anyone, to change.
"Feelings: An invitation to look inside" is an evocative and heartfelt animated masterpiece crafted by STATE for OFFF Barcelona 2023, which delves into the intricate depths of existence. This film explores the immense weight of emotions and the profound impact they have on our lives. Starting from a concept from Stanislav Grof's theory, the four Perinatal Matrices are based on clinical observations of experiences of expanded states of consciousness. Unapologetic and bold, "Feelings" is a must-watch for anyone who has ever felt the crushing weight of their emotions, and seeks to rise above them. This film is a testament to the transformative power of openness and a reminder that our true strength lies in facing our innermost fears and confronting our vulnerabilities.

The opening titles: the moment of presentation of the names of all the speakers present at the festival - the hall of fame. Whoever creates them earns the esteem (or disappointment) of the entire design community.
In speaking of people at heart, it is only right to mention Zetafonts the Italian foundry, partner of the event we accompanied with the Coco Culture project. Zetafonts gave STATE the Arsenica font to make titles, #spreadlove.
Visual impact first - intellectual next
Summing up the OFFF speeches was Rens Laerenbergh - the Jovanotti of OFFF - who with his OFFF Bingo said everything we all wanted to say but better and above all did it straight away #feckperfuction would say James Victore.
At OFFF you don't find answers but good questions or quote for reflection
Everyone tried to answer the question - why do I do what I do - and the most interesting and most reflective answer was: "Creating a space for making collaborations".
What you do during a shoot is jazz
The high point of collaborations: productions. From the small studio to the big production house the process is clear, pre-production can be hyper-detailed but in production it is like playing jazz or having the art (not the case) of being able to improvise: what you would like to explain to customers, summarised in the right form.
Join the Coco Culture
This year's OFFF was a way to reconnect with oneself, the team, designer friends, former teachers and colleagues. Those that accompany you or have accompanied you for a while and still remind you that you can be proud of your path.
Among reunited friends, over a beer and a sketchbook we worked out our quote:
"OFFF is a bit like the American dream that in the end if you don't have it you get the good but you also give a damn."
